Bird Fest is back for its fourth consecutive year! Join us for birding walks, art workshops, food vendors and more. All ages are welcome at this free community event.

Explore the diverse bird habitats of Hawkins Loop during peak breeding and brooding season. Borrow binoculars and spotting scopes or bring your own!

Get creative with our bird-related “make and take” workshops, featuring naturalist and illustrator Casey Girard of River Thrush Studio, our Hawkins Loop Summer Artist-in-Residence, and Hurdle Mills woodworker Simon Barth.

All ages and experience levels welcome! NC Youth Outdoor Engagement Commission will be awarding 2026 Birdwatching Outdoor Patches for participants under 18 years old.

• Learn bird identification techniques from environmental educators.

• Explore native bird habitats and learn about creating bird-friendly backyards

• Make original bird-related artwork with professional illustrators and craftspeople

• Connect with fellow birding enthusiasts and nature lovers in a welcoming and serene setting

• Spend the day in beautiful Person County, NC following the North Carolina Birding Trail
